Sónia Hetzner

Senior researcher and project manager (since 1999), social scientist, pedagogy expert, geographer. Responsible for development, management and evaluation of technology enhanced learning and training projects for different target groups.Instructional designer for e-learning, author of self-learning material for different target groups; currently working in the field of technology enhanced learning knowledge sharing approaches (user-centred LMSs, WIKIs, Simulations and Serious Games) for different target groups with a special focus on adult and science education.
She is an experienced manager of European projects with long-term experience as project coordinator and area coordinator, SenTrain, evaluation of European projects, definition of User Needs Analysis and specification of pedagogical user requirements. Participation in in more then 15 National and European projects focusing on technology enhanced learning.
Currently she is leading the research area “Game-based Learning and Serious Games” at the Institute for Innovation in Learning. Current research areas: use of innovative tools that enable effective learning activities, interactive multimedia, serious games and simulations, e-learning, technology enhanced science teaching.
Speaker and chairat national and international conferences (e.g. Online-Educa, EDEN). Author of different papers and publications on e-Learning and Serious Games. Member of the Networks of Academics and Professionals“ (NAP) of the „European Distance and E-Learning Networks“ (EDEN). Lecturer for teaching and learning with e-learning for academics.
She speaks fluently English, Spanish, Portuguese and basic French.
